Frequently asked questions

Position sizing determines how much money you should use for a single trade based on your account size and the percentage you're willing to risk. Proper position sizing helps protect your account and manage risk consistently.

This calculator only needs your account size and the percentage you're willing to risk. From those two values, it calculates the maximum amount you should risk on a single trade.

Many professional traders risk 1–2% per trade. Conservative traders often use 0.5%, while aggressive traders may risk 3% or more. Lower risk helps protect your account during losing streaks.

If you risk 2% per trade, you can have at most 50 positions open simultaneously before your entire account is at risk (2% × 50 = 100%). In practice, keep well below this limit to retain a safety buffer.
